Imagination Running Wild

Skinned knees, cuts and bruises litter my legs
Dirt pressed under my nails,
I only go inside when my mother begs,
Where I tell her my incredible tales

I am happy, satisfied, content.
For I just battled a fearsome dragon,
With only my wimpy sword and shield with a dent
It looked grim, but I had won.

And yesterday I swam in murky water with mermaids,
Tomorrow, who knows what will come of my escapades
For I could do anything, be anything I pleased,
With a little imagination I could make castles out of trees.
Or a congregation of rocks becomes the place the fairy coven play,
Give me a circlet of flowers and I am queen for a day

When I was a kid my imagination ran wild,
Just one of the many perks of being a child
Because when I put my mind to it, nothing was as it seemed,
The world was my oyster, it could be anything I dreamed.
