Seaglass
Seaglass
It has been tossed about for years and years.
Endless waves send it one way,
And then another.
Through green seas,
Blue oceans,
Stormy gray waters,
It travels.
Sometimes it soars in the sunlight,
Riding each crest and trough.
Other times it flounders in the deep,
Sinking in the dark, cold and alone.
Finally it surfaces,
Worn from it’s adventures.
White foam carries it forth,
and it settles on a beach.
There it stays.
Wind buries it with sand;
Footsteps uncover it.
Again and again.
Until…
A hand swoops down and picks it up.
Small in size, frosted in color.
Smooth on the surface, rounded on the edges.
Seaglass.
