Gone to early
God saw you getting tired daddy
He knew it was your time to go with him
Your last words to me were “I’m still here baby girl, your daddy’s still here.”
What happened to those words daddy?
What happened to the promise you made me?
You promised you would learn how to walk so you could walk me down the aisle.
You were so weak, so tired, I hated going to see you.
It pained me to watch my own father lay there and die.
You were suffering, yes, but why so early?
God saw you getting tired daddy
It just hit you like BOOM
and then all of a sudden you were gone.
Walk beside me, guide me please daddy, never leave my side
You left a hole in my heart that no one will ever fill
I truly never learned what the words I miss you meant
Until I reached for my dad’s hand and it wasn't there.
