I hope one day you can look in the mirror and see what I see

I hope you can one day look in the mirror
And not see chubby cheeks
Or eyebrows that aren’t on “fleek”
Not see small boobs and forget the demeaning words of that “dude”
Or see a small butt or a fat gut
Not see tired eyes that in fact are as bright as the sun in the blue in the sky
Or gross hair when you just can’t bother to care


I hope one day you can look in the mirror and see the opposite of what you do,
Because you see ugly, and that’s just not rue

I hope one day you can look in the mirror from my perspective and see,
Your truly remarkable beauty

So take a new look at that body you despise
Because beauty isn’t defined by shape or size
It’s time to see your beauty through your own eyes.

As a teenage girl, I know many who struggle with issues pertaining to their body image and the way they perceive themselves.  this is what I say to them, and I thought others should hear it too because very few people recognize just how beautful they truly are
