The Dark Knight
Just another night in Gotham City.
From rooftop to rooftop watching over
like a guardian angel.
Perched on the edge of an abandoned apartment building
that smells like burnt rubble and decayed flesh.
Why do I do this every night?
I ask myself this question everytime
I put on my suit.
Every time I remember the death of my parents.
I remember the look in my father’s eyes as he died.
He did not want to leave me alone.
No child should grow up without their parents.
But I know they are looking down on me.
I hope they are proud of what I have become.
Saving people but I can’t save everyone
not even the people in this old building.
But I have to try.
I have to believe that there is still good in this city.
There are rumors about the identity
of the caped crusader.
Some say he is a creature that lurks through the streets
or he is a watchful protector.
Others say he is a masked vigilante who takes the law into his own hands.
However they are only rumors.
No one can know the truth about me.
People want to accept me but they fear me.
Fear becomes hate
but they need to fear me.
Fear is my greatest weapon.
Fear is what keeps people safe.
Fear of the Batman.
