The Evil Within Us
The corpses lay to decay
The evil awakens
All the party go-ers are shaken
Grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
The party abruptly ends, and as the ghouls attack
Me left back to hit them over the head with a sharp knifed- axe
The evil never goes away
For no mortal to resist
The evil will always succeed
Nobody leaves the party
At least without a limb
The lost and damned return to hell
To come back every Halloween
The evil never goes away
Though the story ends here or does it now
The evil always returns
No earning your way out
The evil always stays
So watch your back, for the evil may attack you next
In the end however, the hell lets out a cry
Death is arising from his hellish throne
Waiting for his prey
The evil and Death
As Shakespeare once said “Death lies on her like untimely frost”
The angel of darkness is fear
Death is everywhere
The evil is fear
The evil is within us

This was a poetry assignment given by my teacher Ms. Asaro. She loved it and was even put in the local newspaper known as Suburban Trends. My teacher thought it would be a great idea to submit it to Teen Ink
