Too Far
A young woman,
barely past the age
of walking across the stage,
sits at window of
her duplex off University
With her old landline phone
sitting limply in her hand,
her face wet with tears,
she silently vows
to do a better job
Through the years
there are plenty more tears
but none quite the same
as those she shed
when her heart became dead
She worked so hard to be
the woman she thought
her daughter needed
strong and independent
financially resplendent
However her intentions
her heart had long grown cold
as she became more and
more socially bold
continuing her heart astray

This poem is about how sometimes people set goals and strive so hard for them that they get too involved with some part of getting there. Sometimes, so involved that they loose sight of the goals and the reasons why they wanted to reach them.
