The Stars
The stars left us.
The giant gleaming hopes,
that would have kept us warm
that would have held onto the searing passion
that we used to hold
deep within our ugly hearts,
left.
They will never return.
We have become too repulsive.
Our souls shattered into empty hatred,
and we found that the pollution,
the dirty, ugly behaviors we had made,
were more worthy of our attachments,
than the shimmers of iridescent love,
that dangled above the sky like clouds.
We are clouded.
Our filthy, destructive ways have become such
that even the stars in the sky
do not wish to be anywhere near us.
Yet,
we do not even try to erase our bitter emotions,
our irrational feelings of hate towards one another
are unnecessary
yet,
we will not change.
The glimmers of what used to be within our souls
have left.
We put up too much of a fight,
when they wanted to take away the pain of our hatred.
The reason the stars
were ever here in the first place,
is probably to contain us.
Maybe it’s for the best that they left.
After all,
the most ugly evil in this world,
may very well be
humans.
