Suffering
Suffering.
A collapsing scratch for your bleeding ears and heart
Bitter tears streaming down your face.
It’s become like breathing, a habit, a reminder
Not crying is holding your breath,
as if each molecule of oxygen slowly dissipates.
You are strangled by silence.
Even though you had almost forgotten,
settled from your sorrow,
But it has been brought up again and again.
No one cares.
Even though you bottled it up and thought about it for years,
even though you’ve found all the words you need to say,
even though you’ve tried to express them,
even though you scream and squeal until your throat feels numb,
and they have always had the chance to express themselves,
they still don’t understand how your head throbs each night,
how you cry because you don’t understand,
and how all you want is to be,
not heard,
but listened to.
Even though
you tried,
you are told that you didn’t,
and that is why
you decide
to disappear.
Maybe then they’ll understand
that all you wanted,
was to be
truly
loved.
