Napkin

A tree in the forest, I stand tall,

A creatures home, till I fall,

Then I am sliced,

And most likely diced,

To make a soft paper square

Oh, what joy I have Now!

I travel by boat, stored in the bow,

Till I come to the City,

Feeling so very giddy,

Knowing I have finally arrived.

The lights, the glass, even the sewer,

All of this wondrous to I, the viewer.

But too soon I arrive,

And my spirits take a dive,

At the cupboards of an eatery

For months, I sit there,

Until, one day, I hear,

"No Napkins?"

"How will I eat Pumpkins?"

And I know my time is nigh.

A sudden light, as the cupboardcomes ajar,

And then a hand comes in, from afar,

I am lifted up,

And soon see a patrons sup,

A greasy, bacony, burger.

A greedy hand grabs at me,

and then, ever so suddenly,

I am covered in grease,

And haven't a neat crease,

As I am balled up, and thrown away.

I sit at the bottom of a can of trash,

Seeing my life go by in a flash,

When suddenly, up I go!

A truck has come to stow,

The garbage, and recycle, away.

I pray for dear life, and prepare

(And hold my breat in the smelly air).

Soon I fall,

Into some kind of stall,

Where I begin my story, again.

I am recycled, a new,

Soft, square, who,

Having gone through it once,

And feeling quite a dunce,

Is going for seconds.

One day, I looked at a Napkin dispenser, and wondered: What would a Napkin think of its life? And, Lo and Behold, A poem is written.
