Deadline!
The poem was assigned
Three days in advance,
But Sarah, acting blithe,
Had attended the dance.
One cannot fathom
How foolish she acted.
For the essay was due,
But she was distracted.
Sarah went out,
With a vociferous crowd,
Some neighbors even complained
That the group was too loud.
Still, Sarah didn't care,
Dancing the night away.
Eleven past midnight,
Where was the essay?
She partied all night,
And on that Sunday morning,
Did not open her bag,
Despite her teacher's warning.
Sarah's attitude toward homework
Was callow and immature.
The poem would be crap;
Of that she was sure.
And although she knew
It was worth 50% of her grade,
Sarah went out again
To the festive masquerade.
There she remained,
Thoughts of essays slipping her mind.
But when asked to stay longer,
She politely declined.
9:00, Sunday night,
Writing she intended,
However Sarah was too tired
And her problems just augmented.
Her poem was due,
And she hadn't even started.
With all the stress-caused anxiety,
All she did was farted.
Quickly typing four-lined stanzas
And rhyming here and there,
She whipped up a short poem
About a man who had no hair.
At last, her poem was written
But Turnitin was no more.
So she sat there in disbelief
And shriveled up on the floor.
Her paper wasn't turned in,
So she silently prayed
That her teacher would have clemency
And give her a passing grade.
She knew she'd messed up,
Not doing what was assigned.
But now Sarah knew for the future
To meet every deadline.
