So We Walked
This afternoon my dog seemed a little peppy
He seemed like he had pent up energy
It was a cool day with a little sun
So we walked
A long hiking trail with squirrels collecting food
A park with empty slides
And even the trees are a little cold
I zipped up my jacket
And we walked
A long twisting creek with barely enough
Water to move
And certainly not enough water for any animals
With a steady hum
And we walked
I keep walking passing a swinging bench
Hanging from a enormous oak tree
For everyone to enjoy
So we walked
Left, right, up,
My dog darts his head
Following a squirrel
Yanking at his leash
So we walked
"Coming up on your left!!"
I jump to my right
To escape the bikers way
And we walked
We pass another dog
The dog is enclosed in his backyard
His only resort is to bark towards Max
So we walked
Another dog passing by
Both yanking on their leashes
Max pulling towards this other dog
He reaches the dog and it's a smell fest
So I walked
And the walk dies down returning to
Our home
We get home and not too soon my dog is
Ready for another walk
So we'll walk.
