Dear Shooter,

You took my daughter
You took my best friend
I am now alone
I don't know how to live
My life took a turn
How am I supposed to get up
I have nothing to give me a kiss
From my husband in the morning
Kisses on the cheek from my little girl
Flowers now covering my house
People thinking that will help
It doesn't
It makes me break down in tears
But, I forgive you
I am sorry for you
I'm sorry for what you have to go through
When you killed them, you killed me too
Sincerely,
Alice

Dear Alice,
There is no excuse for what I had done
My life will be changed forever
I deserve it
I am a mess and shouldn't even be here
Right now, I don't deserve to be alive
Your husband and daughter should be here instead of me
You don't know how much it means that you forgive
I'm inconsiderate and don't think
I'm a killer
I'm a life changer
I'm sorry
I am paying for what I did
Please don't lose your kindness
Sincerely,
Anonymous

The author's comments:

These are two poems. One is a letter poem from a mom to a shooter. The second one is the response of the letter from the shooter.

I want people to see what the shooter is thinking and what a person that lost someone close thinks. I wanted Alice to forgive him/her because it is so powerful when I've seen it on the news. I really hope people see that forgivness is powerful and can be used in times of heartache.
