On that magical number 18
You’re 100% independent
It’s not like when you were a preteen
When all you had was dependence
You start going out on your own
The realization the world’s the hardest game you play
When you have to apply for loans
For an education that will pay
You’re on your own
No help, just yours
That’s when you know
All you have is yourself
When growing up seemed fun
You thought of no rules
Now when your grown up
The world is cruel
