Goodnight
Goodnight,
Sweet dreams,
and don’t let the bed bugs bite,
My child.
The sun will soon come up,
the morning will greet you,
and all your fears will be forgotten.
But until then,
Close your eyes
And sleep.
Say goodbye to the times gone by,
and all the storms behind you.
Tomorrow will,
hopefully,
be a brighter day.
Goodnight,
My dear, sweet child,
dream those wishes
your heart makes
in a safe place,
where no one can take them away,
or crush them.
Close your eyes,
and dream of a place,
far above these clouds of grey,
and into a place
where happy endings come true,
and magic exists.
A place where anything,
Anything you can possibly think of,
can happen.
A place where noble heroes exist,
And in completely hopeless situations
the good guys still win,
and the dragon,
no matter how vicious,
maniacal,
or real they may be,
those dragons are still defeated.
Sometimes,
Yes,
The hero will fall,
And the dragons prevail,
And I know,
That the thought frightens you.
But you have such strength,
My dear,
Strength not even Sampson had,
Or David when he faced Goliath,
Or King Arthur against his many foes,
You have more wit, and cunning,
Than Robin Hood himself.
There are monsters in the dark,
And things that go bump in the night,
But their only weapon,
Their only power against you,
Is that of fear.
It’s up to you
Whether or not
To run screaming,
Or stand back up,
And try again.
When you do,
You’ll discover
A place so high up,
and so far off the ground,
No will ever,
or can ever,
Knock you down.
Where you,
And I,
Will never be alone.
A miniature heaven
on this place called Earth.
Fly away to your happy place,
Far away from here,
that’s often better than reality,
with a smile on your face.
Let your imaginations fly
into a happier place,
Far away from me,
and carry you
Into many adventures,
and experiences,
Ones you’ll never forget.
Believe in them,
And the path ahead is yours.
On your journey,
You may find yourself alone,
Most dreamers do,
But let your imaginations fly anyway,
Especially while you’re here in my arms,
Where you’ll always be loved.
Goodnight.
