Homesick
The image swirled and changed,
Like watercolors running in a painting.
As Idiris shimmered,
Before his eyes,
Like a mirage in the desert.
A wide meadow,
Sweeping down to a large stone
House,
In the distance.
It felt like another memory.
Green fields,
Thick emerald leaves of trees.
It felt like a fantasy.
Bees buzzing,
The rustle of leaves in the air.
The sweet smell of honeysuckle,
Carried on the wind.
It felt like a dream.
Wild flowers swaying in the wind,
Perfuming the air.
A waterfall rested on a mountain,
Behind the manor,
Standing tall and proud.
Pouring sapphire blue water,
That cascaded into the pool below.
A childhood home,
His haven,
Presented to tempt him,
As you might tempt a child with candy,
Or a toy.
He looked at his home.
The view beyond the green fields,
And the manor house.
His face softened,
The wistful curve of his mouth,
Made it clear,
That he was looking at someone,
Or something,
He loved,
And missed.
It would only take one step,
To go home.
To go back to the way things were.
But it was too late,
That old home had passed away.
