Rehab
I was always warned
About drugs on the streets
But never the one
With brown eyes
And a heart beat
Consumed by a haze for months
Everyone could see the damage
That was being done
Except for me.
Relapse after relapse
how much more could i take?
i hate to say
you were my favorite mistake.
I remember that day
It was all set in flames
The damage was done.
We would never be the same.
So while his sparkling eyes
And convincing script
Draw you in,
Be careful
Cause that is not who he is.
Deceiving and lying,
Control and anger,
I now see.
You can’t try and change a person,
Into someone they’ll never be.
So I sit right here
And realize
That the good times
Never did out way the web
I was trapped in.
I won’t regret
But learn the lessons
I know now.
Once in a while though
I do admit
I miss the feeling
That came with the haze.
But I remind myself again.
It was all shot to flames.
If there’s anything that I have learned
Out of this,
It’s to never
Put your worth into a person.
That doesn’t acknowledge it.
Do not
Lose who you are.
‘You never really see
How toxic something is
Until you breathe
Fresher air.”
So this is me,
Breathing.
Praying.
Sober and free,
Smiling brighter than before.
