“Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession, friendship is never anything but sharing.~ Ellie Weisel

The clear image still haunts me.

As white walls close in,

Monitors sing a monotone,

Mournful tune.

Family come from all over the country

To visit their elder

For the final stretch.

Stuffed like sardines into that room,

Bright lights cant lift the sorrowful mood.

One by one we shuffle in,

Counting his last moments,

Breath,

Heartbeat.

Angel wings spread,

He flies into bliss.

When it is my turn to say farewell,

I wilt like a willow,

Sobbing,

Over a corpse.

The author's comments:

This poem is to remember the moment that i lost my grandfather, because it was a very painful part of my life, and he knew how much i loved to write, so this poem is dedicated to him. I just wish that he would of still been with us to feel my last hug.
