Childlike Horror
In the mindset of a child, monsters hide under beds;
The ones with crimson eyes and frightful intentions.
With the comforts of our parents words, we carry out the deeds
of the nights bidding.
In time, we are conscious of the childish thoughts that monsters hide under beds.
We come to realise that they’re here with us throughout our daily lives.
Those crimson eyes turn into the hazel stargazers you fall asleep with every night.
The frightful intentions don’t haunt you in the night;
They kiss you good morning and whisper false promises of love and devotion.
And with these things, and our parents words slipping from the manipulative tongues of our dearly beloved, we resort back to foolish ways
and close our eyes.
