The First Time I Met Him
My heart beat on like a touch of rain
It’s me that is raining on.
Listening to the raindrops falling down my umbrella
Watching the high school boys running away
Seeing him run towards me
He grabs my waist
Hiding under one umbrella
I stared at his brown eyes
Then our lips touched
I wanted to pull away
But he held my head
When he pulled away
I opened my eyes
I see his lips moved
“Wanna grab lunch?”
I blanked
He grabbed my hand
We headed to Taco Bell
I looked down at my nervous feet
Against white stoned floor
Because he kept staring at me.
“Why did you kiss me?” I mumbled
He looks at the window and his dance turned red
“It’s because I like you,”
I closed my eyes
Took a deep breath
And I kept thinking it was a lie.
My heart was pumping too much blood
It felt like I was going to
Burst open like a flower
But when I opened my eyes
What saw in front of me was a
Cheesy fiesta potato on a fork
He was going to feed me
So I opened my mouth
He keeps looking at me
I always look away
I tried looking at him but
I was too nervous
I got up leaving him behind
He follows me
I keep walking
Going towards my cousin’s house
I waved at him so he could leave
But then
He looks at me
He comes toward me
Closer and closer
My back hits the door
Face to face
Eyes to eyes
Lips to lips
I close my eyes but
“Your eyebrows on fleek”
I opened my eyes
My face becomes red like a cherry
I look away
He smirks
Then turns away
I watch him leave
But suddenly he stops
And turns around,
He looks at me.
“Why did you close your eyes?”
My face turns red again,
I try to look away
To hide my embarrassment
He smiled and chuckled.
