Dear Gatsby,
Can you tell me what it’s like?
Tell me what it’s like,
to love someone you can’t have.
I’ve heard them talk about you,
they talk about me too.
Gatsby, please tell me what it’s like.
Dear Gatsby,
They think you’re crazy.
My dear Gatsby, they think you’re crazy.
Crazy for hoping
and crazy for dreaming.
They say she’ll never love you
the way you need her to.
Maybe they think I’m crazy too.
I hope, and I dream.
Dear Gatsby,
Try as I might I cannot
find solace within your pages.
I can’t help but think about your fate,
and wonder if I might meet
the same end.
Gatsby, promise me I will not have
the same ending as you.
Gatsby, can you promise me that?
Dear Gatsby,
Why did you love her?
Why did you give your whole life for her?
I’ve heard them say that you
gave her everything,
that by the time you reached your demise,
you had nothing left to live for.
They say you gave her everything,
more than just your life.
But, Gatsby, what could be worth more
than your life?
Dear Gatsby,
I give him everything.
Is this how you felt, Gatsby?
Did you feel empty and broken
like a piece of you was missing?
Gatsby, tell me how you felt.
Dear Gatsby,
Did you feel all the happiness in the world
at once when you looked at her?
When you looked at Daisy?
When I look at him, that’s what I feel.
Gatsby, must I give up my world
for him, as you did for Daisy?
Will it work, Gatsby, will it all be worth it?
Gatsby, please.
