Unnamed
The girl who has no name
She listens in the night
To the secrets and the memories
Those that withhold no delight
The girl who believes in hypocrisy
How can it really be true
The she was unworthy to sit at the table
But human enough to screw
The girl who wants to drown herself
Every time her father walks into her room
She sheds no tears as his weight suppresses her
She stays quiet as she waits for her doom
The girl who spends her afternoons
Sitting on the grass next to the grave
Of her best friend who left her alone
Her best friend she couldn’t manage to save
The girl who picks up the razor
Who believes her mind can never be healed
She’s taken to the hospital
Where her wrists are finally sealed
The girl who waits at the truck stop
In the cold of every hour
To service strangers throughout the evening
The men who want to feel power
The girl who covers her bruised knees
She’s crawling on the bathroom floor
Every time she loses her sanity
After being called that bulimic wh*re
The girl who touches herself
To mend her broken heart
She pretends it’s him who loves her
To feel whole and less apart
The girl who swallows the pills
For her new mental disorder of the week
Maybe this time I’ll be normal
Maybe this time I won’t be a freak
The girl who takes a drag
Of anything that comes her way
To forget about the injustices
That happened to her that day
The girl who raised her child
Just so he could stand there in the cold
Losing his dignity as he asked for change
Growing weary as he grew old
The girl whose stomach is growing
Gaining all the weight her stick figure can manage
She could have spent the rest of her life with him
But he just wanted to take advantage
She’s your friend
Your neighbor
Your mother
Your savior
The girl who has no future
The girl you never knew
The girl you called a s***
The girl who might be you.
