The Secret Apple

A snake who hisses at the lovers who go by
slithering on the ground
and rattling his tail at the God in the sky
wondering why he didn’t bring any miracles down
Adam and Eve had each other
but he had no one. Where are you God?
the ice in his heart could never
bother to be thawed
a moment as sweet as honey
why not ruin it? Perhaps, eat
the Apple. Feel the poison running through your body
and slowly, slowly like me, you’ll be beat.
