Suffering ain't suffering the second it finds meaning."- Propaganda (poet)

I was born my parents first child.

From the second I was out I was ready to run.

Then came long nights alone shooting a 3.

But that was before you knew me

Yet after the high-five.

And staying up until 6 a.m. wondering why I'm alive.

Because I know my purpose is greater than a job at 7 Eleven

Plus I ate yet am still hungry, thats my passion.

And if you don't really get it you can pull your 9,

But this is only my 10th line, let me explain and you'll be fine.

You see I didn't go to church until I was 11.

Then at 12 half my grandparents went up to heaven.

You could say that I was unlucky like the number 13

For teenagers this statement might sound insane

But when your 15 minutes of fame are up.

Do you really wanna be 16 and dead because you couldn't put down your cup?

Stay thirsty my friends.

The author's comments:

I originally began writing this poem for a project in my English class. But, as I began writing I began to grasp what power words could have and decided to be political about it yet still be personal with it. This made the challenge I originally set forth to achieve, to have every line include a number reference leading up to my age, even harder than what it was.
