The day I realized I’d never see my grandfather again, was when I was told that it’s too hard for him to travel or leave the house,
because of his memory.
The day I realized I'd never see my uncle again after this visit, was when my mom said he looked worse than last time.
The day I realized that mental disorders were not taken seriously,
was when the school nurse told me that my panic attack was an act just because I didn’t want to take a test.
The day I realized true love and caring for someone can be real,
was when I held my baby sister.
The day I realized my life was already planned out by other people because of my gender,
was when a teacher told me that I’d change my mind about not wanting kids,
because every female does.
The day I realized I would need to prove my worth to the opposite sex was when a man told me I could not do something, because I am a female.
The day I realized I could never publicly appreciate my race, was when somebody called me
a terrorist.
The day I realized that the American Dream is no longer achievable, was when my aunt was working 3 jobs, yet she still couldn't pay for insurance.
The day I realized that the ability to succeed is already determined by the amount in your bank account, was when I was told I couldn't go to my dream college because it was too expensive.
