The Sad Love
I stay in the night
Waiting for you to need me
Hoping when I get a text at three am
To see your name
I never do
And I wonder- do you sleep?
Do you dream of things of lesser (greater) consequence?
Or do you stay awake with worries of your own,
Troubled by your own miseries,
Thoughts that you wouldn't share with someone as insignificant as me?
I dare to presume you dream,
For otherwise my heart could break
In the knowing that we both think secret thoughts
Without ever sharing them.
I will never know how you spend your nights
(I think it better not to ask)
As for myself,
I stay in the night
And think of you.
