You're strangling me in my sleep
Cracked teeth and broken dreams
Pink satin winds around my throat
A pythonic coiling choke
It coils tighter, tighter still
Until lungs no longer fill
Until languishing veins
Lets in light where there's no pain
Where there's no strain
Frees soul but body remains


The author's comments:

Sometimes when someone we love hurts us, we try to forget them, at least in our wakeful hours. But, inevitably, painful memories resurface in our dreams.
