Lake Lundgren
Deep in the woods off the paved road
the trees sway back and forth in the gentle breeze.
Loose leaves fall from their long reaching branches.
The fresh air relaxes me,
and the calm of the water soothes my soul.
Fishing docks bob over the pulsing water.
My callused fingertips pluck at my guitar,
as sounds vibrate into the air.
I can find peace here, connected to the earth.
My worries are left at home.
Disconnected from the world wide web.
Phone buzzing doesn’t distract here.
The nature trails are home to the wild, where
plants and animals run free.
The mountain towers over my small body,
a reminder I am a speck of dust yelling “I am here!”
The top overlooks the lake engulfed by evergreens.
I’m emerged in a slice of heaven, as
nature swallows me whole.
