I am from the sun glistening on the warm tiled floor

I am from the back and forths
the closed doors

I am from the jet lag
The cuddling on the couch
the forever lasting dinner talks
I am from the songs not meant to be played
I am from the don’t eat that
and the don’t touch that
I am from the broken lamps
and the clean that up

I am from the constant memories
and the talk to me
I am from the sunroom
the piling pillows
I am from the broken bones
the shared rooms
I am from my parents bedroom
from the nightmares
and the go back to beds

I am from classrooms
I am from the stop talking
from the start reading
I am from giggles
and jokes
I am from turn around
from the get serious
I am from the cookie movies
from the group projects

I am from the hideouts
And secret paths
I am from the head of the table
The swing set
I am from snacks on the couches in language arts
I am from the trampoline
The flips being attempted
And failed
I am from the birds
And the snowflakes on paper

This piece was written about memories that make me, me. I wrote about them because they are important to me. These are some of my memories put into a free verse poem.
