Every Day the Sun will Set
Far away in the
Cooling of the ashes
I hear a music, faintly
The music of the stars.
Every day
Is all the same
And everything is
Perfect?
Far away in the
Gold calm of the cornfields
I hear a silence, waiting
For the deepest, flawless dark.
Every day
Is all the same
And everything
Perfect?
Far away in the
Rolling of the grasses
I hear a whisper, softly
The promise of the night.
Every day
It’s all the same
And nothing is
Perfect.
Wait for the moon to rise
Darkness wash out brightest light
You’re alone but there’re people all around you
Wait for the moon to rise
The sky is crowded, silver stars
You’re alive and amazed at the beauty of the night
Suns chase moons, they always did
Since before the grasses swayed
Since before the cornfields whispered
Since before we walked this earth
The sun has chased the moon
And when it comes it burns the calm
And every day a train wreck
And every day the screaming
Catastrophe awaits.
But
Wait for the moon to rise
(Every day the sun will set)
Wait for the moon to rise
(Every day the sun will set)
Wait for the moon to rise
(Every day the sun will set)
You’re alone but there’re people all around you
