Today I woke up depressed like any other day,
And they’ve told me this is upsetting
Today I woke up exhausted like any other day,
This too is upsetting.

They tell me to speak up
And perk up
But being depressed and exhausted,
I don’t have much energy,
So this too is upsetting.

My hair falls in my face,
Showers it like a curtain
Wavy, lengthy, and heavy
I just don’t have the strength to fool with it
This too is upsetting.

What advice is there for those of us
Who are darker than the night?
What do is told to others
When they see us on the street?

There is no advice to give
But only to say to them:
Don’t stare, walk on, don’t speak,
And hope that we don’t get offended.

I wrote this poem because I've gone through rough times, I'm still going through some. It's hard to stay in the right mind when you think everything in your life is going wrong. When everything that is happening to you is happening to you because you don't belong in this world. When all that goes through your head are the bad thoughts. You don't remember any of the good times, it's always the bad memories that occur when you are alone and thinking to yourself. When you wonder, "Why am I here?" You have to remember that there is always a bright side to the situtation. Whether it be a relationship with a boy, family member, or friend. Always remember that there is a way to survive in this messed up world.
