The Seeds Of Hades
Hades, my master, the brother of Zeus,
The God of the Underworld and all of its red hues
He saw Persephone, daughter of Demeter,
One day in a field and knew he had to have her
I looked on as the Nereids and Naiads of the lake wailed,
As the beautiful, young Goddess of Spring was assailed
Only the naiad Cyane dare cross the God of Hell
But she too was helpless against Hades’ conquest and quell
All she and I could do was scream and cry,
As the horses leapt away with thumps, and the Earth sealed dry
Like an infant, Persephone pleaded for her mother
And Hades, the entity of evil itself, turned to Zeus his big brother
But not before I enter the report,
When Persephone was tricked into eating four of me in the hellish fort
Seeds of a pomegranate are what I am,
And now Persephone is my master’s little lamb
But Zeus deemed the girl return to her mother part of year,
To the land of the living to bring warmth and cheer
The selfish souls smile and call this season Spring
But my master is the one who has won, and he is the king
