Long way from home

Coming home,
Was a long way from school.
It was dinner time
Mother told me,
"Eat your greens,
Clean your room."

She told me,
"Wash your hands,
Don’t forget
To do your homework
And go to bed."

She shouted,
“Wake up now
It’s time for school!
Brush your teeth,
I made your favourite food!”

She smiled at me,
While I gobbled it all,
She pulled my cheeks,
I felt so small.

I was ready to leave.
She looked at me
Said “My dear, you are beautiful”
“I’m not, ma”
“You are perfect to me.” she said
I’m so proud of you.”

Going to school
Was a long way from home
She hugged me, said, “Be safe”
Because I walked alone.

“See you soon, ma” I said.
I looked back, and saw her wave
As I left, the guard made me stop
He said “Ma’am, you left your umbrella
At that grave.”

Oh! Wow! I wasn't expected that ending, but it was a nice twist. I like the loving feeling of the mother and daughter. It really touches my heart. Please keep writing and God bless! This poem is really good. :)
