Depression
Depression is a choice
Or at least that’s what people say
So just slap on a smile
And have a good day
They think happiness is easy
If you just meet someone new
Go talk to people
And don’t be so blue
Just go do fun things
And you won’t feel so bad
Life is only hard
If you choose to be sad
Well I have to say
That I must disagree
Depression is more complicated
Than sadness, you see
You can’t just laugh
Until your depression is gone
Depression is a mental illness
You can’t just “move on”
So don’t be ashamed
It’s not something to hide
If you just ask for help
You won’t be denied
And I promise you
That you’re not alone
You don’t have to face this
All on your own
Everyone together now
Please raise your voice
We must let them know
Depression is not a choice!
