Broken Rainbows; Broken America; Other Shades of Red,White, Black, and Blue
What is a rainbow to the eyes?
Beautiful hues of reds and blues,
How does a rainbow make one feel inside?
For most, feelings of serenity, happiness, and positivity run through.
I’ve seen the truth.
I notice each detail with a magnifying glass.
Small scars from lightning strikes,
It leaves small bruises of black and blue.
Signs of fresh, new wounds bleed through
It’s beautiful, but broken
I believe anything can be mended.
We can repair it with duct tape, time, and glue.
We bleed red, white, and blue.
People are ignorant, but I pray to God not blind.
We cover up our flaws and try to appear as the love child
Of Athena and Adonis on the outside.
A broken rainbow is what I see; she is the land of the beautiful, brave, and free.
The nasty storm that America has really become makes me cry and weep.
How can no one else see?
No matter how much adhesive just one citizen can use; it simply just won’t do.
People need to learn how to turn me into We.
Until then, rich are getting richer and the poor become poorer.
Few dare to try to help.
Do they think it is better to standby
As a brother is beaten for being in love with an Ethan,
As a son is condemned for not believing in Him,
As a father is slaughtered by fellow man
For being more than two shades darker?
So, the man is slightly racist,
We all know that he’d never admit it
Because America is perfect,
And tries to make me believe white privilege has never existed.
Speaking of brutality,
Let’s think about the reality
Of all those nasty wounds.
Those ugly bruises in different shades of blue.
The blood all the men bled was red.
The blood and the bruise; the red and the blue
Those same colors are supposed to protect.
All that’s ever seen is he. What about the she?
Is she not equal to the man?
If there is a God, why not a Goddess?
Excuse me for the feminist rant.
The man is obviously superior; the woman inferior.
Trust me,
Want to know how it’s true?
I read it somewhere in St. Luke.
It is of the religion.
Everyone must be a Christian.
If not, He is an Atheist,
We should socially reject him.
He is a Buddhist; he’s a hippie and stupid.
He is a Muslim; he’s a terrorist.
Let’s bomb them and make them believe.
Let’s fight over oil.
NO, all earth’s resources.
America must have all control.
My words to America and all those bigots:
Stop being so closed-minded;
Look to better the future;
And look pass our differences.
Be an example.
We are our glue,
We can make America new,
We can heal her and prove that change is inevitable;
We is not the President.
We is not Congress or the Senate.
We are the people.
We make the colors of our rainbow.
Red, orange, yellow, green, and blue
It is up to We to improve.
