What I Gave
I'm walking through the woods in my best dress,
and my favorite pair of shoes.
Im not sure where Im going,
yet Im walking as if I do.
Pink ribbons from my childhood
sit pretty in my hair,
as Im tearing through these woods right now,
Im handling myself with such little care.
Abandoned innocence stripped away
and discarded to the floor,
where Im going doesnt feel right,
but Im lusting after more.
Branches of trees tear at my dress,
leaving it dirty and ripped.
A feeling of fear runs through me,
because Im afraid Ive lost my grip.
Im now sprinting through the dark woods,
I know for a fact now I am lost.
This is so unlike me,
far past out of the box.
Yet Im starting to see a clear now,
a safe and sound place to break.
Ive wondered off the beaten path,
with my innocence at stake.
Ive made it to the clearing
yet my favorite dress left in shreds.
I search for my pink ribbons,
and find theyre no longer atop my head.
The state in which im standing,
cant be fixed with weatlth.
And Im realizing I lost a part of me,
while trying to find myself.
