Hostalgia
A leaf fell
From the tree
Racing on wind’s cascade
Falling
Her bed was unmade
Clothes in disarray
But her world lit up
With text messages from “Bae”
Her heart pounded
As she fell fast
For his charming smile
And handsome wit
Nobody told her
The ground came quick
The leaf settled
Among the others
Trampled under other’s feet
Broken, Twisted, Demented
Forgotten
Losing its colors
Losing its life
Her friends had all left her
Saying they knew it would happen
When no comfort came from outside
The girl turned inward
Thoughts of self doubt
Filled her mind
Her hands reached down
To clutch her thighs
Maybe it was her fault
And she needed
To change
Go through a metamorphosis
She didn’t know
She had already shed
Her cocoon
So she changed
And she shrank
Her skin turned yellow
And her bones popped out
Everything she worked for
Came too fast
The leaf was broken
With only its stem left
All its beauty had faded
And nobody cared
So when the fire came
It let itself burn
Everyone was worried
But no one made a move
An everhaunting loneliness
Settled with the chill
Her dry lips panted with sobs
As she sat in the corner
Wrists bleeding red
She had been used by him
And she would free herself
From the wind’s relentless push
Cuz no one told her
The ground came quick
And all she could do was
Scream

This poem may be triggering
But hopefully someone'll comprehend
That I'm not looking for a hotline
But an understanding friend
I want to share the feelings
That perhaps are left unsaid
The words that torment minds
And veil our saddened eyes
