Jem/ found chunk text
I would never lead him home.
I slipped my hand into his.
His fingers found the front doorknob.
He gently released my hand, and shut the door behind him.
I never saw him again.
With death and flowers and sickness and little things in between
He gave us two soap dolls and a broken watch and chain, a pair of good luck pennies and our lives
We had given him nothing and it made me sad.
I didn't watch him trudge down the sidewalk.
It was now fall and I needed him more than ever.
  I needed him
  I missed my Jem
