Horror of Homecoming
Homecoming is like
A horror movie
No one ever survives.
Mixture of
Hairspray,
Perfume,
Body lotions,
And nail polish in the air.
A bunch of people in a room
Dresses,
Make-up,
And curling irons laying everywhere.
I see myself in the mirror… I don’t look normal.
Hairspray at the top of my tongue,
Just like metal mixed with cake and juice.
Toothpaste freshness,
Covers my mouth blocking the bad stuff out.
Screaming,
Yelling,
And complaining in the other room.
Laughter,
It surrounds you a minute later.
Sweat,
Dripping down my forehead,
And covers my palms.
Wearing a very
Scratchy,
And warm dress.
Make-up caked on my face.
I feel like a
Barbie doll
This day is a
Punch in the face.
