Avalanche
I am a mountain, capable of supporting life
and ending it
I have stood tall and firm through a great deal
of blizzards, no matter the harshness
the snow piles on, I stand strong
layer after layer, snowfall after snowfall
I do not falter, and you enjoy my enormity
alas, it is not the boisterous events
but the flurries that loosen my being
they pile on top of the awful layers and suddenly
I am unstable
a mere question can send them toppling down
in an avalanche I cannot control
leaving me bare yet still standing gloriously
