The Tree
I felt the rays of sunshine fall around me
like a warm wool blanket.
Time stopped, only laughter and smiles
could be found around us.
The leaves were bright and lively,
The tree had been there for years broken and untouched
Its branches felt crisp and gritty,
bugs were making little homes inside it's safe cover,
I was balancing on a thin line
between the soft summer ground and the bright blue sky
Walking across this great tree
with my best friend by my side, what could be better?
A gentle breeze swept in
and caught our hair,
holding on to the steel branches to keep us steady as we played,
The sun started to set
casting shadows that danced as the breeze blew
We said our goodbyes
to the beautiful old tree for creating memories
That will last a lifetime.
