Broken Walls
I built a wall
I made it strong
For years I always stood up tall
You took a boulder
Broke it down
You didn't even make a sound
You slipped inside
You gained my trust
But that just was not enough
You crushed my soul
You broke me down
But I didn't even make a sound
I built new walls
That can't come down
So now it's time to break yours down

As I read an article in my 9th grade Honors World Civilization class about walls being broken down and people slipping in and out during Ancient times, I was reminded of some events that had recently gone on in my life. I wrote this poem when I was supposed to be working on a project, and I'm so glad I did, as it came turned out to be something emotional, beautiful, and truthful.
