Love to Hate You
Hate to Love You
You brought me in and
you held me close;
told me it was I that
you loved most of all.
And as you quivered
and shook in my arms;
“I love you.” You sputtered
through chapped lips.
“I miss you.” You echoed.
And GOD
how I wish
I hadn't listened.
Sorry doesn’t fix the
things you’ve broken;
me as one of them
with blue eyes full of tears.
“I HATE you.” I hiss,
my hands tremble
as lies continue to
roll off your tongue;
a mantra I wish not
to hear.
And though you
used and abused my
heart and soul,
in my eyes you’re still
a work of art--
so beautiful.
And as you walk away,
I feel my heart hollow;
my tears stream my face.
“Why me...?”
Was the only thing
I could say.
