World Around Me
As I walk the cold breeze flows
Moving the fresh cut grass
And leaves on tall trees
Cars zoom past, moving closer to their destinations
The parked cars have already reached theirs.
The slow ones take their time
While I still sit and wait
Looking to my left I see the sun
It’s rising and not very far from the ground.
On the other side of me
High in the sky, I see the moon.
I can see its deep craters and shadows
It sits there, inching down
A windmill blows gently
Its colors swaying in the cold air
Below it are pumpkins.
Some have fallen over
Others stand tall and bright.
The chatter of kids breaks my thoughts
But I remain to stare at the concrete.
The blue paint making it look like the sea
And it’s water to walk on.
The auditorium sits quiet behind me
No plays, no musicals, nothing.
Only an empty stage, left open for opportunity.
Soon someone will take it.
The streets get quiet
People settle into rhythm
I still sit and wait
Watching the world around me.
