Willingly ignorant like the woman before the fall tempted by earthly pleasures,
To reasonable advice I did not listen,
Living dead,
Relying on my own bulletproof position

It wasn’t like I didn’t know
hadn’t be told
was unaware
clearly not confused
of the deleterious dangers
that to others may appear invisible

It’s no surprise that I am where I am
reminiscing,
reliving,
living in the light darkness
Tears flood the earth
Praying for a rainbow through a dark violent storm

Doomed myself with parabens,
microwaves,
UV rays
and tanning beds
carcinogenic oil and food
I could go on forever

Pleasures for a moment
but beauty fades,
food digests,
health deteriorates,
life grows shorter,
there’s nothing left,
you wake up dead.

Only hope for the one who reads this
only hope for the one who listens, does not ignore
only hope for the one who learns
from my mistakes

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
too late, too early
I am thankful for The One who sent me
The One who makes His quiet presence
because all that’s left
is a second chance
for someone else,
who shouldn’t die until they know how to live

Do you know how to live?

The author's comments:

Cancer is a major health problem that leads to death and people need to prevent it.  Australians are ignorant about carcinogenic agents and put preference of vanity and appearance instead.
