Rosana
No more beautiful faces
hidden behind burqas
I am Rosana
Not a pair of unknown eyes, sparkling in contrast to the black fabric
I am a person
I don't want to blend in
I don't wan't people to forget me
I don't want my life to be covered by a burqa
hiding my dreams
my aspirations
Who I am
This is a time for
beautiful colors,
satiny fabrics
and courage
To be different
To be a spot of color in a sea of black
Not stowed away behind a sheet of bland material
but free

I wrote this piece to to support the women of the Middleast, who are daring to be different, and showing who they really are. I think they are brave and full of courage.
