Yellow Spotted Highway
Trucks moved out of our old driveway
My eyes filled with tears
Staring at the yellow spotted highway
I hope we like this new place
My sister squeezes my hand
We both look forward into our new future
Traveling is always hard with kids under the age of ten we are like worms
Moving and eating anything in our paths
In the backseat sat a portable VCR players
Underneath our feet were piles of VCR tapes
I watched Lion King 5 times in a row
We passed famous landmarks
The feeling when we drove through Kingsland, Texas
So eerie
The town of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
My horror filmed addicted mom looked out the windows in awe
Her eyes sparkled
I decided to leave the comfortable backseat
I rode in the U-HAUL truck with my step dad
One of the scariest moments in life
We were singing along to “The Otherside” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
A flash of white flew in front of us
There was a huge grinding noise
The truck came to a forcing stop
We jumped out and stuck underneath was a king sized mattress
A man quickly ran to us and apologized
Just hours later I saw the barb wire gates to our new home
The guards checked our vehicles
I stared at a sign saying “Port Hueneme Naval Base”
We survived the 35 hour trip
