Do you remember the day
when we used to be able to giggle,
giggle at the silly things we said and did.

Do you remember the day
when we went to the ball,
you looked glorious in that midnight blue dress
Your smile was just like a rainbow,
bright and warm
Why did it have to end?

We used to be allured by each other
the desire to be around you was strong
you murmured sweet nothings in
my
ear
there was nothing I loved more.

That is,
until I found an interest
in shark adrenaline

The desire to have more
The cravings I had for it
The beast it turned me into

I was being controlled,
being swayed
by this amazing feeling
It ruined us

Please,
will you listen to me
Forgive me for what happened

I want to take back what was once ours
The bright sunny days,
The warm fuzzy feelings
The sun smiled in your presence

Now,
all that I see
are rainy days

Without you,
the world is a cruel place.

Please, hear my plea
for I need you
back in my life

Without you
I.
am.
   nothing.

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem with a strategy called "poker poem". We played a game of poker with word cards and after we had 15 words piled up we had to write a poem with those words included somewhere in it. I hope to spread awareness of drugs, and how a simple injection of shark adrenaline can ruin what you have made.
