So why are everyone talking about “People Like Us?”

We’re not the only ones to drop out of school
We’re not the only one to not go to school
So why are everyone talking about “People Like Us?”

We can go to college
We can get our degrees
So why are everyone talking about “People Like Us?”

We can get a job
We can get our own house
We can grow up and have a relationship
We can grow up to be
Doctors,
Nurses,
Lawyers,
We can grow up to be somebody!!

Just because of our race you underestimate,
We can be anything you can be,
We can do anything you can do,
We are the same as you,
So why is it that everyone underestimates,
Underrates,
Miscarries,
Undervalues,
Belittles,
Miscalculates,
Puts down,
Sells short,
“People Like Us?”

Truth is,
People Like Us,
Are just like you.
