Pride
There are thousands of people
The lights are dim
Music is playing
The seat is cushioned
Screams fill the room
The excitement hits me
What if I win?
My heart speeds up
Dont get too excited
My palms are sweating
It would be so amazing if i won
My eyes are closed
This is it
--
“Bronze, Em--”
I’m screaming
Jumping
Hugging
My heart still racing
it’s even faster now
My palms still sweating
I wipe them on my pants
My eyes now wide open
Focusing on the rising stairs
--
There are thousands of people
The lights are dim
Music is playing
The stage is rough
Silence fills the room
The spotlight hits me
I can’t believe what I just accomplished
My name is called
I am the person I thought I couldn’t be
The camera hits me
I just smile in pride
